Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to look at our microsite. More importantly, thank you for giving us the opportunity to tell you more about our ambitions and about how you can make an essential contribution to creating a successful, vibrant and sustainable City.

Worcester has already been described as ‘ahead of the game’. Recent flagship developments include our prestigious city library, The Hive; our new, competition-standard swimming pool; and our exciting Cathedral Square retail development.

Yet there remains plenty for us to do. The Council has a clear vision for the future, set out in our City Plan 2016-2021 which has the commitment and support of the leaders of our three political groups. The major urban extension of the City also lies at the heart of the South Worcestershire Development Plan, agreed and adopted in partnership with Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils.

We therefore need to ensure the development of an infrastructure that meets the needs of our citizens and further develop a first-class environment for business growth to encourage greater volumes of high quality, added-value investment.

The focus on Home and Communities has arisen after a review of our Corporate Leadership Team. I want to strengthen the focus on supporting the communities of our city, ensuring that people are well-housed, enjoying high levels of wellbeing and living in a happy and safe environment. In my view, this exciting role is absolutely crucial in delivering the services that will ensure Worcester maintains high standards of living. You must have a true passion for community development, with a strategic outlook that is firmly supported by the determination and dedication to deliver positive outcomes. You can be certain of my support, and I can also assure you that you will be given the space to exert your own strategic leadership and influence in order to achieve our overall goals and objectives.

Our Deputy Director: Governance is a vital role in ensuring that key decisions and policies are supported by sound legal advice and an effective governance framework. It's a role that influences at the very heart of decision-making in the council and it's essential that whoever takes on this role can advise with certainty, objectivity and can foster strong working relationships across the political administration.

If you can demonstrate a real depth of understanding of the challenges facing the sector and the personal characteristics which contribute to our success, then we’d love to hear from you.
